The Information Technology Technician works with the Information Technology Supervisor, the General Manager, the Board, and all business units in coordinating the design, implementation, and maintenance of new systems for the Credit Union.
The incumbent is also responsible for defining and documenting business processes and software requirements for technology initiatives (may include but not limited to business information systems and online products) and accountable for providing solutions to information systems management or business administration related services in furtherance of a progressive and collaborative business environment of the Credit Union's goals and objectives. The incumbent is also required to provide a yearly budget for IT-related expenses and to prepare RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs, evaluate responses, and recommend awards for hardware, software, and services; write, coordinate, and administer vendor contracts as they pertain to the Credit Union and its overall IT and Business Strategies.

Qualifications and experience required

An Associate Degree in Computer Systems, with a focus on business analysis, business process design, systems analysis or management information systems.
• A+ Certification, ITIL Service Desk Certification, Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) / MCSA or MSCE would be an asset.
• Competence to manage/administer Windows and/or Linux/UNIX Server environment /Database /Cabling/Project Management Proficient in the use of Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Exchange, Linux/UNIX servers
• Basic knowledge of data configuration, Data Network/PC application systems, Application Development Framework, Database design and development.
• In-depth Knowledge of computer hardware, software development methodologies, and software technologies that would support Business Applications.
• A minimum of three (3) years’ performing similar functions, inclusive of building reports and the use of modern data analysis methods, with responsibility for first-line help desk support.
• Proficient in network administration and security.
• Proficiency in the use of Windows Operating Systems.
• Proficiency in the use of Active Directory, SQL, MS Exchange, Firewall, and Symantec Back-up software.
• Proficiency in the use of Office Tools and software relevant to job functions.
• Working knowledge of various database systems.
• Strong attention to detail and contract monitoring.
• The ability to build and manage client relationships within the IT Industry.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of systems such as Credit Union Financial Regulations, Financial Systems, Security Systems, Asset Management, etc., will be an asset.
